Cindy emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in a white satin robe and her hair set in pin curls.  Her new dress, a gorgeous shade of emerald green, was laid across the bed.  James had gotten up early and headed over to Taddy’s house to help him get set up for the wedding.  He would be back shortly to get cleaned up before he served as Taddy’s best man.
She hummed to herself as she lined her eyes and swiped on her mascara.  She always looked forward to an opportunity to get dressed up, and today was no exception.  As she dabbed perfume behind her ears and at her throat, she also though about how much she was looking forward to seeing her husband in his tuxedo.  James was a handsome man, and she couldn’t resist the sight of him in formalwear.
The door to their bedroom opened, and James came in, wiping his sweaty brow with a handkerchief.  He paused for a moment and admired how the satin of his wife’s robe skimmed across her curves.
She turned and smiled at him.  “Everything all set at Taddy’s?”
“Yup,” he replied as he began to unbutton his shirt.  “Other than the food, and Aunt Lizzie wasn’t letting me anywhere near the kitchen.”
“Can you blame her?” Cindy replied as she carefully lined her lips.  “You can barely boil water.”
“Not at all.”  He dropped his shirt on the floor, kicked off his shoes and unbuckled his belt, allowing his pants to join the shirt.  “You look gorgeous, by the way.”
“I’m not even dressed yet,” she replied, putting the tube of lipstick down.
“I know,” he replied, moving to stand right behind her.  “That robe does wonderful things for you.”
“James,” she said, playfully swatting at his hands, which were now trying to undo the knot on the sash that held her robe shut.  “Really?”
“What?” he asked with feigned innocence as he leaned forward and began to kiss the nape of her neck.
“We have a wedding to go to.  Your cousin and best friend?  Remember…” her breath hitched as he hit a particularly sensitive spot.
“I remember, and we still have plenty of time.”  He untied the robe and his hands found their way inside of it.
“You…devil…you…” Her breathing was becoming uneven as James continued to kiss her neck.  “I just finished doing my hair and…oh…”
“You can redo it.”
“Yes, I can,” she replied as she turned around and pushed her husband back onto the bed.
“I was hoping you’d come around to my way of thinking,” he grinned as she shed the robe and climbed on top of him.
“You don’t have to be so smug about it, you know.  I would have given in eventually,” she remarked as she snuggled closer to James’ bare chest after.
“But it’s so much fun when you try to fight me,” he sighed.
“You’re impossible.  You do know that, right?”
“I do.  And now we really do need to get cleaned up and ready to go to the wedding.”
As they got up from the bed, Cindy gasped in horror.  Her beautiful new dress now lay crumpled on the floor, cast there at some point during their earlier exertions.
“Oh,” she sighed, kneeling to pick it up.  “I bought this especially for the wedding, and now it’s too wrinkled to wear.”
“I’m sorry, doll.  I should have…”
“If my memory serves me correctly, I was the one who put the dress on the bed.  And I was the one who shoved you on the bed.  So it’s my own fault.  I’ll just have to wear my plum one instead.”
“You’ll look great in that one too.  Now, you get ready in here; I’ll go sneak into my old bathroom and get ready there, so you don’t work your feminine willies on me again.”
Cindy picked up his shoe from the floor and playfully threw it at him as he exited the room.
When the door closed, Cindy put her robe back on and went to the mirror to inspect the damage.  Her hair was a mess, and her makeup destroyed.  She’d have to jump into the bath again and start over.  But it had been worth it.  Completely and utterly worth it.

I love these two together too. Shenanigans is a great word, and it perfectly describes what they usually get up to.
